The General Authority for Roads and Bridges unveiled an integrated plan for the maintenance and development of the 6th of October Bridge, which includes the use of micro-service technology and the division of work into 8 sectors. The plan aims to address paving and joint problems that cause severe traffic congestion.

The General Authority for Roads and Bridges announced the launch of an ambitious project to rehabilitate the 6th of October Bridge, one of the most important traffic arteries in the Egyptian capital. This project comes in implementation of the presidential directives and the decision of the Council of Ministers to transfer the responsibility of the bridge completely to the General Authority for Roads and Bridges. The Authority faces a major challenge in maintaining this vital 12-kilometer-long axis for each direction, which includes 44 houses and views and 595 construction separators. Problems The existing pavement layers and joints have exacerbated traffic congestion despite the existence of alternative axes such as Kamal Amer and Jihan Sadat. The new plan is based on an advanced scientific methodology that includes the use of "micro-service" technology to address the surface problems of asphalt, which is an economical technology characterized by speed of implementation and prolonging the life of roads. The bridge was also divided into 8 work sectors from Dokki to Nasr City to ensure the continuity of traffic. The scope of work includes comprehensive maintenance of structural elements, pavement layers, joints, visibility barriers, concrete barriers, sidewalks and lighting systems. The plan also includes the development of key references, especially Abdel Moneim Riad, Ghamra, Shubra and Ramses. The Authority has implemented extensive coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic to identify optimal execution sectors and timings, focusing on night shifts to minimize the impact on traffic. All security elements were provided with checkpoints Plastic, signage, night lighting and human guidance elements. The Authority apologized to citizens for the temporary inconvenience caused by the maintenance work, stressing that these measures are necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of this vital axis. It called on citizens to pay attention to maintenance work and reduce speed in the diversion areas to ensure traffic safety.
