In a subsequent development, US forces carried out retaliatory strikes targeting an Iranian unit specialized in launching drones on Iranian territory. The US official explained that this unit was preparing to carry out additional attacks that pose a direct threat to US forces and commercial navigation in the region. Reuters confirmed this information citing another US official, who noted that Washington targeted an Iranian military site that it considered a direct threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. These raids coincided with additional interceptions of other drones in the area, indicating a continued state of military alert.
