Minister of Interior Adds Security Inquiry Certificate to Traffic License Requirements

Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Interior, approved a new decision amending the executive regulations of the Traffic Law by adding the security inquiry requirement. The decision aims to develop licensing mechanisms and enhance standards of control and discipline in the transport sector.

Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Interior, announced the issuance of Resolution No. 800 of 2026, which amends the provisions of the executive regulations of the Traffic Law by including new additional conditions for granting traffic licenses. The ministerial decision, which was officially published in the Official Gazette, stipulated the addition of a new fifth clause to Article 254 of the current executive regulations. The new clause requires applicants to submit a security query certificate approved by the Traffic Investigation Unit This step comes within the framework of government efforts to modernize and develop the controls and procedures governing the process of granting traffic licenses. The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that the required legal conditions are met according to the nature and type of each license required. The new decision seeks to achieve a higher level of discipline and control in the transport system, in line with the provisions of the traffic law currently in force. This amendment also comes within the strategy of Comprehensive to enhance traffic security and ensure road safety. According to the published decision, this amendment will enter into effect as of the day immediately following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, which means that it will be applied to all license applications submitted after this date.
