U.S. President Donald Trump ratcheted up the threat to Iran, warning of “dire consequences” if the Iranian leadership does not move quickly toward a deal. “For Iran, time is running out, and it has to move fast, time is of the essence!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. The US president threatened that "nothing will remain" from Iran if an agreement fails, stressing that "an entire civilization" may collapse unless Tehran agrees to end the conflict. According to the US website Axios, Trump had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the Iranian situation. For its part, the Iranian media reported Washington's failure to make concrete concessions in response to the latest Iranian proposals. The semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that the absence of US compromises would lead to a “stalemate in the negotiations,” while a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Minister Ismail Baghaei described Iranian conditions as "responsible and generous." Iran's conditions, according to Tasnim, include an immediate end to the war on all fronts, the cessation of the US naval blockade, guarantees against further attacks, war reparations, recognition of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of full sanctions. In return, Washington set five counterconditions, including refusal to pay compensation and delivery of 400 kilograms of uranium. Iran, maintaining only one nuclear site, transferring highly enriched uranium stockpiles to the United States, and not returning 25% of frozen assets. Trump recently hinted at his acceptance of suspending Iran's nuclear program for 20 years instead of ending it completely, in a sign of a possible shift in the US position. Pakistan continues to mediate between the parties despite the persistence of a wide gap in positions.
