The UAE was attacked by a drone that targeted the Barakah nuclear power plant, while Saudi Arabia intercepted three drones coming from Iraq. US President Trump warned Iran of the need to move quickly amid declining efforts to end the ongoing conflict.
The UAE authorities announced that a drone managed to penetrate the air defenses and targeted a generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, while successfully intercepting two other aircraft. The Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed that radiation safety levels were not affected by the station and that there were no injuries. For its part, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reported the interception of three drones coming from Iraqi airspace, warning against taking measures necessary to respond to any attempt to attack its sovereignty. The diplomatic adviser to UAE President Anwar Gargash described the attack as a "dangerous escalation" whether it came from the original client or through his agents. Amid this escalation, US President Donald Trump warned Iran that “time is running out” and it must “move quickly or it will have nothing left.” According to Axios, Trump is expected to meet with senior national security advisers to discuss Options for military action against Tehran. These developments come more than five weeks after a fragile ceasefire came into effect, amid divergent US and Iranian demands. Washington demands the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of control over the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran demands war reparations and an end to the US blockade. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz led to the largest oil supply crisis in history, causing prices to rise sharply. The Chairman of the Security Committee said: Tehran has prepared a mechanism to regulate traffic through the strait that will be revealed soon, while the United States has continued to impose its blockade on Iranian ports.
