Ukraine launched its largest air attack on Russian territory since the beginning of the conflict, using about 600 drones that targeted 14 Russian regions. The attack killed four people and injured dozens, while Russian air defenses shot down 556 drones, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Russian authorities announced on Sunday that the country was subjected to the largest Ukrainian air attack since the outbreak of the conflict four years ago, with the participation of about 600 drones that targeted large areas of Russian territory. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its air defenses were able to intercept and shoot down 556 Ukrainian drones between 2200 on Saturday evening and 0700 on Sunday morning, through the skies of 14 Russian regions in addition to regions in Crimea and the Sea of Azov. The largest damage was concentrated on the outskirts of the capital Moscow, where a woman was killed in the town of Khimki, northwest of the city, while two men were killed in a village belonging to the municipality of Michi, northeast of the capital. Four other people were injured in different areas, and several homes and infrastructure facilities were damaged. Moscow itself witnessed the interception of more than 80 drones, with 12 people, mostly workers, injured at a construction site near a refinery. Oil, while local authorities confirmed that the refinery's production was unaffected despite the damage to three residential buildings. This widespread attack comes days after the bloody Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital Kiev, which killed 24 people and injured about fifty others, prompting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to assert his country's right to respond by targeting Russian oil and military industries.
