Lebanese-Israeli talks in Washington under US auspices continued for a second day, with the Lebanese delegation focusing on the priority of a comprehensive ceasefire before discussing other issues. While Lebanese official sources confirmed that the atmosphere is positive, Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon continued.
The Lebanese-Israeli talks resumed their second round in the US capital Washington, where the Lebanese delegation is led by Ambassador Simon Karam, while the discussions focus on two main tracks: a military one that includes a ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal, and a politician related to the extension of state authority and the exclusivity of weapons. Lebanese official sources confirmed that President Joseph Aoun communicated with the delegation during the break, as the negotiators informed him that the atmosphere is "good until the hour." Lebanon to adhere to the priority of a full and comprehensive ceasefire before deciding on other files, with an emphasis on proceeding with a weapons exclusivity plan. In parallel to the talks, Israeli violations of Lebanese territory continue, especially in the south, where the occupation army has issued evacuation orders for ten southern villages. In return, Hezbollah announced the implementation of ten military operations against Israeli positions and vehicles. At the domestic political level, the Speaker met Berri alerted Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss the developments of the talks, as Berri stressed the need to adhere to indirect negotiations and the priority of a ceasefire. He also stressed that Hezbollah would abide by the ceasefire if Israel stopped its attacks. For his part, a member of the Political Council of Hezbollah, Mahmoud Qamati, considered that the authority's going to "direct humiliating negotiations" comes within an "integrated conspiracy" against the resistance. Beware of a "fitna" that you knit Authority in cooperation with the right-wing parties under American auspices. A US State Department official confirmed that "direct communication between Lebanon and Israel is the best way to reach a lasting peace agreement," accusing Hezbollah of trying to "disrupt the negotiations" by launching attacks and threats.
