NASA Launches Phase 1 of Permanent Lunar Base Project

The US space agency has embarked on its ambitious plan to establish a permanent base on the moon, by signing huge investment contracts with specialized companies. The announcement follows the resounding success of the Artemis 2 mission that flew around the moon recently.

NASA has unveiled the start of the executive phase of its strategic project to build a permanent base on the moon by concluding investment contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars with four leading American companies in the field of space technology. According to the announced plan, Blue Origin will be responsible for providing two advanced landers to transport Lunar Mobility Vehicles to the Arctic. AstroLab and Lunar Outpost will manufacture these vehicles, which specialize in lunar exploration. For its part, Firefly Aerospace will take over the mission of sending the first drones to the surface of the moon, provided that all these technical equipment and equipment arrive before the arrival of the first mission of the astronauts within the upcoming Artemis mission in 2028. The agency's strategic vision includes A second phase, running from 2029 to the early 1930s, will see the establishment of the base's core infrastructure, including an integrated power grid and advanced infrastructure. The third and final phase will qualify the lunar base to host astronauts for extended periods, by providing permanent housing equipped with the latest technology, which represents a qualitative leap in the history of human space exploration.
